As an Editor I need to be able to overwrite assets in the WP Media Library and maintain the asset URL.
The current process* is not only cumbersome (Admins cannot create redirects from an old media URL to a new one without the support of Global IT), it does not take the human element into account (people make mistakes, GP documents are rarely final), and opens up the Org to legal liability (no IT support on weekends, cache isn’t always flushed).
Even Planet 3 allowed Editors the ability to not only overwrite media files/images but have version control, including an option to leave a comment (in the UI) with why the file was changed and what those changes were.
P3 Admins also had the ability to generate a redirect from an old/deleted media asset to a new one to maintain the integrity of the campaign assets.
